2016

La Gazette Drouot n°41-Nov. 2016. p.382

The gallery’s main events hinge on two exhibitions which are the occasion to publish catalogues: Old Master Paintings in the winter and Drawings in the spring. These exhibitions are held in the gallery every year and attract more and more collectors, amateurs, and museums who are eager to see our new discoveries.

We have participated annually in the Brussels Antique and Fine Arts Fair (BRAFA) for more than ten years. Once a year, the gallery steps outside its usual fields in order to pursue other artistic horizons with an exhibition devoted to a contemporary artist.

THE GALLERY’S ARTISTIC MEMORY :
Our art catalogues are the product of long scrupulous research which highlight the gallery’s latest acquisitions and masterpieces. We would like to thank the museum curators, art historians, and specialists for the advise and enlightened views.

Each year, we publish a catalogue of works on paper for the Week of Drawings in the Drouot Quarter.

The gallery has been working on the catalogue raisonné of the artist Henri-François Riesener (Paris 1767-Paris 1828) for several years. If you own works by this artist, please contact Alexis Bordes.

Encouraged by great French and foreign institutions, as well as by numerous collectors, we offer valuation services for both buying and selling art works.

If you wish to sell a piece which you consider to be rare or unique, feel free to request advice from our gallery. We will research your item’s authenticity as well as its estimated value.

With an expert assessment in hand when you wish to sell or purchase an art object, you will have more confidence in your transactions. The evaluation and estimation of your item will be free; you will only be charged for an eventual certificate of authenticity.

You may send us an assessment request by email or postal services after having gathered as much information as possible related to your work (artist if known, subject, technique, dimensions, provenance, etc.) and a few photographs of the item.

We are also authorized to do inventories on your account in view of estimations, partition, and insurance. In fact, it is best to be prepared for the unknown by having a precise idea of the value of your possessions.

Alexis Bordes is pleased to present his upstairs gallery on Rue de la Paix in Paris.

Located just steps from Place Vendôme, this very central space offers the opportunity to meet an international clientele in a high-end environment.
Specializing in 18th and 19th-century French art, this beautiful setting allows us to showcase works of great quality.
Intimate and discreet, the upstairs gallery has already captivated numerous collectors and institutions.

Since 2004 the gallery is part of BRAFA and has also exhibitied in La Biennale des Antiquaires au Grand Palais.

Alexis Bordes is a member of SNA (Syndicat National des Antiquaires) and CNE (Compagnie Nationale des experts.)

After completing degrees in Law and Art History, Alexis Bordes trained for several years at the Hôtel Drouot auction house with various auctioneers before opening his first gallery in 1996 near the Hôtel Drouot.

The gallery specializes in the French School from the 17th to the late 19th century and presents works on paper as well as paintings and sculptures.

A public sale expert working with auctioneers, Alexis Bordes also serves as an advisor to many European and international collectors.

The gallery has contributed to enriching the collections of numerous museums and institutions, including the Château de Versailles, the Louvre Museum, the Getty Museum, and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, among others.

Located on Rue de la Paix for over 10 years, the gallery organizes several thematic exhibitions each year, accompanied by the publication of extensively researched catalogs.

For many years, Alexis Bordes has been working on the development of a catalogue raisonné on the works of portraitist Henri François Riesener, in collaboration with Mr. Philippe Nusbaumer.
