A Fleur de Peau (Photographs)

Carla Van de Puttelaar Photographs. Opening, Thursday, May 24th, starting à 5 pm.

The photographer Carla Van de Puttelaar was born in Saandam, Holland in 1970. She lives and works in Amsterdam and exhibits photographs in many European galleries.

Her photography makes it possible to look at the grain of the skin as closely as possible. Through her lens, she makes us conscious of both the sensitivity and the sensuality of skin examined in detail without ever losing awareness of the importance of the forms enveloped. Although the female body has long been her main subject, in recent years she has also successfully begun to examine the forms and texture of flowers, particularly those on the brink of fading, like vanities. In them she has discovered the same fascinating sensitivity and sensuality as in her female models. Natural light is one of Carla’s an important tool, an asset. She allows it to play with her subjects in order to catches its purest essence, while at the same time, pay homage to the grand masters of the Dutch Golden Age.

In our exhibition, A fleur de peau, from May 25th to June 1st, 2018, we present a series of luminous delicate female nudes, as well as a some flowers, which appear in the artist’s latest catalogue, Adornments.
